IGNEOUS ROCKS

From the latin word ignis meaning fire. Igneous rock is formed through the cooling and solidification of lava.  This is how the rocks that I have been observing for so long had been formed. I was attacked to the idea of creating a surface like that of the Igneous rocks.

I have painted by using dripping, splashing and smudging effects. Some of the paint is more liquid and transparent for the dripping effect and others are thick layers of impasto to form rugid textures. Like the lava that cools to form an unpredictable surface my layers of paint dry and set to reveal a work of art.

I created multiple layers of colours and figures to later destroy. The idea of pressure, wear and destruction to create something beautiful attracts me very much and this is where the scratching of the surface comes into play. The scars give a sense of time and wear. Just like life itself, these are the scars we carry over time.

Only these scars can give structure to our souls to sculpture a better version of ourselves.
