tales of the alhambra collages

Tales of the Alhambra is a book that in my childhood captured my attention  but it was only recently that I fully appreciated it. As I live in Malaga  I have followed the footsteps of Washington Irvings route visiting the white washed villages and towns he writes about in his tales.
The Alhambra is the highlight of the book but its also the fantasy and magic that he mixes so cleverly  into reality.
I wanted to honor this book bringing my abstract art and his texts in Spanish together. I have made 2 collections of mix medium collages ( watercolors, acrylic and pastels and pencils). This creative process took me to paint 2 acrylic figures of a Rooster and Turkey, two animals I find magical and so simbolique of rural Andalusia,  I have also applied collages onto them. Finally I continued this journey with 2 large abstract paintings.
